If you never been to Portugal and experienced this beautiful country with it´s friendly people, you seriously need to think about a visit.
If we, my wife Inge and I, had known what we know today, we would have moved from Sweden to Portugal much earlier than we did in 1993. Sweden is a beautiful country and we both love it, but Portugal has more sun and a much more relaxed and easy life-style. We found a nice property with an old ruin which was demolished and superseded with a rustic type of house. The property is located up in the mountains outside the village of Moncarapacho in the county of Olhão in the province of the Algarve. Faro is Algarve´s capital and only 30 minutes drive, down hill, from our home. Faro has an international airport with direct connections to most of the large airports in Europe. We are also situated a comfortable 30 minutes drive away from the Spanish border with i.e. the famous Spanish city Seville two hours away and British Gibraltar aproximately four hours away.
Our hill has two houses. Monte do Garcia and another which we bought and named, "Captain´s Cottage" ("C.C."). The new house has undergone an extensive and very successful renovation and is now ready for occupation.

There is much more to the Algarve than Sun, Beaches and Golf. The clear air and the clean dark sky are worth fortunes. "Here, we have a window to the universe". The clear air, inky black night sky coupled with the geographical latitude of the Algarve, makes it one of the best locations in Europe for stargazers. We have a very sophisticated Astronimical Observatory very close by in the beautiful city, - Tavira.
